It is now over ten years since Milly et al wrote their Science article “Stationarity is dead: Whither water management?”.  Yet over this time, while there have been numerous articles highlighting the challenge climate change poses for environmental flows, there has been very little change in the practice of environmental flow assessments to accommodate non-stationarity.  In this talk, I call for us to embrace uncertainty and consider environmental flow assessments in the context of change and decision making under uncertainty.  Rethinking our approach to environmental flows assessments is an important step in ensuring that environmental flows continue to work effectively under climate change.
