Handoko Wahjudi
I am an aquatic ecologist and waterway consultant. My mission is to safeguard the future of Australia’s rivers, freshwater supply and natural heritage.
In 2010, I started my consultancy (Galaxia) with the aim of combining ecological research and consulting. I have since delivered a portfolio of waterway projects across six countries. These include water sensitive urban design for racecourses and resorts, as well as freshwater supply and drainage infrastructure. My work spans across rural and urban environments. These projects range from large scale storm water harvesting programs across major metropolitan catchments, to habitat offsets for endangered frogs and fish.
In October 2022, I submitted my PhD in ecology at the University of Melbourne, under the supervision of Prof. Barbara Downes and Dr. William Bovill. As an ecologist, my research focuses on how hydrology, flow regulation and geomorphology limit freshwater populations across time and space.
I am looking forward to meeting you at this year’s AFSS conference.
